I looked at this kit for about a month before taking the plunge and I'm glad I did.The quality is excellent and the instructions were easy to follow.I did a clear gloss lacquer finish on both the boby and neck(six coats each). The instructions say to sand with 600 and then 800 grit wet/dry sandpaper the finish came out so well I omited that step except for a ridge on the neck where Imasked off the fingerboard a few swipes with 1500 grit wet/dry took care of that. The pictures make the pickguard look kind of generic and I was going to get a pearloid one,but the one with the kit is actually a nice 3 ply White/Black/White unit so I'm keeping it.The strings are ok but I've got a set of GHS Flatwounds waiting in the wings.I've always wanted a Fender bass and after over 40 years I have a very nice alternative!I'm upgrading this review to a 5 star review beause after playing this guy for a week or two I can't find any thing negative to say about it.This bass is highly recommended!
