I have been playing guitar for 28 years. I have 9 guitars (4 Acoustics and 5 Electrics) and love each one for what it is. I have been looking for an acoustic I can plug-in and not worry about a scratch or two. For about the past 15 years people have been scarfing up the Big name brand guitars as collectors items. That means they will buy a guitar and try to sell it for an unbelievable price. Since YOU paid too much how long will you have to keep it to recoup your "investment"?
After a lot of thinking I decided I wasn't going to pay the exorbitant "American Made" prices when the same companies ship from their overseas counterparts! I have a 1979 guitar (made in Kalamazoo) that I am bought because it's "handmade"... well, the neck is 1/4" off to one side, there are waves on the top, the 14th fret buzzes, It was overpriced because it was "American Made". This Kalos is good looking and may not end up in a collectors glass case but that's EXACTLY what I didn't want! I don't want a $5000 guitar just to stare it, I wanna PLAY IT! This guitar will do that. No Brazilian back and sides, No abalone inlay, No Pearl on the fret boards...just a very good sounding guitar and I love the venetian cutaway and the depth of the wood is better than anything close to this price. If you have a guitar that you're too scared to let outside in the sun and play in a lawn chair...This Kalos is exactly what you need. It's good looking and worth every penny. I ordered another to take on vacation! My advice...Invest in YOU and not overpriced "Stuff" that just cracks and gets older.
The "A" string is not real loud when It's plugged in but I give this guitar 5 stars for Value.
UPDATE 5-8-11
I bought another one 2 months ago and it plays exactly the same. Kudos, Kalos!
